The University of Europe for Applied Sciences, shortened as UE, is a private, for-profit university in Germany. It was formed in 2017 as the University of Applied Sciences Europe by a merger of the Business and Information Technology School and the Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule. The university was previously owned by the American company Laureate Education and was acquired by Global University Systems in 2018. In October 2020, the university changed its name to the University of Europe for Applied Sciences.

The University of Western Sydney (UWS) began operation on 1st January 1989, under the terms of the University of Western Sydney Act, 1988 which had been passed by the New South Wales Parliament in December 1988. The Act created a federated network university, based on two existing Colleges of Advanced Education - Hawkesbury Agricultural College and Nepean College of Advanced Education. The foundation stone was laid by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1813. On 30 August 2015, the University of Western Sydney underwent a rebranding which resulted in a change in name to Western Sydney University.

The University of Wollongong traces its origins to 1951 when a Division of the New South Wales University of Technology was established in Wollongong. Ten years later the Division became the Wollongong College of the University of New South Wales and, in 1975, the University of Wollongong was incorporated by the Parliament of New South Wales as an independent institution. In 1982, the University amalgamated with the Wollongong Institute of Higher Education, which had begun life in 1962 as the Wollongong Teachers' College. In 2000, the Shoalhaven campus was opened at Nowra on the South Coast.

The University of Western Australia (UWA) was established in 1911 as the State's first university. It was also the first free university in the British Empire, actively promoting equal access to tertiary education for all social classes. The original campus, which received its first students in March 1913, was located on Irwin Street in the center of Perth. The university established a UWA Albany Centre in 1999 to meet rural education needs. In 2005, Curtin University of Technology joined UWA in Albany to provide additional course offerings to the local rural community.

The first discussions about a university for the Sunshine Coast region began in 1973. In 1989, the Australian Federal Government approved its establishment. On 1 July 1994, the Queensland Parliament passed the Sunshine Coast University College Act 1994. The university was established in 1994, opening in 1996 as the Sunshine Coast University College. The University of the Sunshine Coast Act 1998 was passed in Queensland Parliament on 19 November of that year, legislating the independent status of the university. The university changed to its current name the University of the Sunshine Coast in 1999.

The institution was established in 1969 as the Darling Downs campus of the Queensland Institute of Technology. In 1970, the institution provided study programs for rural Queensland and international communities. In 1971, it became the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education, then the University College of Southern Queensland in 1990, and finally the University of Southern Queensland in 1992. In June 2022, the university announced it was changing its branding from USQ to UniSQ, accompanied by a change in logo.

The University of South Australia was formed in 1991 by the merger of the South Australian Institute of Technology with three South Australian College of Advanced Education campuses. To the former SACAE campuses of Magill, Salisbury, and Underdale, SAIT added its three campuses at City East, The Levels, and Whyalla. In 1997, Unisa became one of the first universities to identify seven Graduate Qualities. In 2008 a new Vision, Mission, and Values statement was released as a 21st-century statement of who we are and what is important to us. In 2010 Horizon 2020, a 10-year plan to guide our growth and development was launched.

The University of Queensland is a public research university located primarily in Brisbane, the capital city of the Australian state of Queensland. Established through a 1909 Act of the State Parliament, The University of Queensland was the first university in the state and was officially founded on April 16, 1910, with the gazettal of appointments to the first UQ Senate. Teaching started in 1911 in the Old Government House in George Street, Brisbane. In 2010, The University of Queensland was a recipient of the Queensland Greats Awards.

The earliest origins of the University of Newcastle can be traced to the Newcastle Teachers College, established in 1949, and Newcastle University College, established in 1951. NUC was created as an offshoot of the New South Wales University of Technology (now known as the University of New South Wales) and was co-located with the Newcastle Technical College at Tighes Hill. The name "New South Wales University of Technology", gained its statutory status through the enactment of the New South Wales University of Technology Act 1949 (NSW) by the Parliament of New South Wales in Sydney in 1949. In 1958, the university's name was changed to the "University of New South Wales" reflecting a transformation from a technology-based institution to a generalist university.

Adelaide, Australia
The University of Adelaide is a commanding presence on North Terrace. When it began in 1874 South Australia was less than 40 years old, it is the third-oldest university in Australia. The first degree offered was the Bachelor of Arts, and the university started teaching in March 1876. In July 1879 the foundation stone for the first University Building was laid. In 1880 the University of Adelaide became the first university in Australia with the power to admit women to degrees.
